Compressed Air Solutions is an independent publisher and referral service run from the Gold Coast, Queensland. ABN 47 147 306 279. This page explains what we do with the details you give us.

Where we stand under the Privacy Act

We are a small business. Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), a business with an annual turnover of three million dollars or less is generally not bound by the Act. There is an exception that matters here, and we want to be plain about it. A small business that discloses personal information to someone else in exchange for a benefit is covered by the Act unless the person consented to that disclosure.

We may receive a referral fee when we introduce you to a provider. That is exactly the kind of disclosure the exception describes. So we ask your permission first, in writing, every time, and we do not pass anything until you say yes. We also choose to handle your details in line with the Australian Privacy Principles whether or not the Act obliges us to.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry through a form on this site, we collect your name, your email address, the state you operate in, the industry you work in, and whatever you write in the description of your application. If you email us instead, we collect whatever is in your email.

Our web host and our analytics keep the ordinary technical records that every website keeps, which can include your IP address, your browser and the pages you looked at.

We do not ask for and do not want your date of birth, your government identifiers, your health information, or your payment details. Do not send them to us.

What we do not do

We do not buy contact lists. We do not sell, rent or on-sell your details to anyone. We do not run advertising trackers or retargeting pixels on this site. We do not add you to a marketing list because you sent an enquiry.

Why we collect it

To answer your enquiry. To work out whether we know an Australian provider who fits what you described. To ask you whether you want that introduction made. To keep a record of what was asked and what we answered, so we can pick up a follow up question months later without making you repeat yourself.

Passing your details to a provider

This is the part that matters most, so here it is in full.

If we think an Australian provider suits your enquiry, we write to you first, tell you who they are, and ask whether you want the introduction made. We do not pass your details until you answer yes. If you say no, or if you say nothing, nothing goes anywhere.

We introduce one provider at a time. If a job genuinely calls for more than one, we tell you that before we do it and we name them.

If you engage a provider we introduced, that provider may pay us a fee or a commission. It is never added to your price. The arrangements are set out at How we are paid.

Who else touches your details

We use ordinary business services to run this site and our inbox. Our enquiry forms are built and hosted by Tally, a Belgian company that stores form responses in the European Union. Our email runs on VentraIP, an Australian host, on the same Australian server that serves this site. Our website analytics are provided by Google Analytics and by Jetpack Stats. Some of these providers store data outside Australia, which means your details may be held overseas by them. We have chosen providers that publish their own privacy and data handling terms, and we do not give any of them permission to use your details for their own marketing.

We will also disclose your details where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

While your enquiry is open, and afterwards in our inbox archive so we can answer follow up questions. If you want your details deleted, ask us and we will delete them, unless we are required to keep a record.

Keeping it safe

The site runs over HTTPS. Our email and form accounts are protected by strong passwords and multi factor authentication. We keep the number of people with access to one, which is Byron. No system is perfect and we do not claim ours is. If something goes wrong that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and we will tell the regulator.

Getting at your details, or correcting them

Email byron@compressedairsolutions.com.au and ask. We will tell you what we hold, correct anything wrong, or delete it. There is no charge for this and you do not need a reason.

If you are unhappy with us

Email byron@compressedairsolutions.com.au with the word Privacy in the subject line. We will answer within five business days.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes

We update this page when what we do changes. The date at the top tells you when we last touched it.
